I'm just starting to work with AEM3D and currently updating a model to use a finer resolution with a grid size of 12.5 x 12.5, and the maximum dimensions X=423, Y=1111, and Z=98.

The preliminary model runs successfully, but I encounter an error when trying to run the updated model:

 ***** FATAL ERROR **** FATAL ERROR **** FATAL ERROR *****

* in module

 * in subroutine read_char

* Error reading EOF or AUX Header from file infiles/sparsedata.unf

*********************************************************

What does this error means and how can I solve it?

Thanks for the help

HI,

either you have used a different version of pre_aem3d than the aem3d exe you are using, copied the pre output files to the wrong location, or referenced the files wrong in your run_aem3d.dat file.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply.

I checked for these things. And I ran it by a colleague who works with AEM3D but it still produces the same error.

The pre_model doesn’t run when put the X=423, Y=1111, and Z=98. to the correct settings so I put them to X=422, Y=1110, and Z=98 and than the pre_model works.

The files it produces are of a size: sparsedata.unf= 387,930 KB and usedata.unf= 573,710 KB.
Could it be that this is to much?

Thanks so much for the help,
Olivier
