Thanks for clarification.

For a problem with no external forcing and homogenous profile, the density produced at 4 degree was 16. The variability with depth (500m) is linear and clear as shown, but the value is not tuned.

This looks like you are running salinity.  Is isalinity set to 1?

Also, even if you try to add SALINITY as output it is not applicable, because there is no salinity values. The only input is a temperature profile.
