Hi ,

I couldn`t understand the concept of the "direction from the cell centre to the boundary".

Let`s suppose I have the lake bellow:

Bathymetry data
999.9999.9999.9999.9999.9
999.9-0.5-1-1999.9
999.9-1-3-1999.9
999.9-1-2-1999.9
999.9999.9999.9999.9999.9

Let`s say I want to set an inflow in the cell with value -2 and an outflow in the cell value -0.5. The direction of both inflow and outflow would be going to the top of the screen.

Disregarding the header, my BC file could look like the bellow lines?

1  flow_xm     Inflow

4      3      :

! - - -

2  flow_xm     Outflow

2       2      :

Thanks

Hi, sorry for the late response, for some reason I didn't get a notification about this Question.

The key when setting up the bc file is that you are setting the direction to the face that flow will come into or out of the domain.  You are not specifying the direction of flow.  ie At pre stage you are not setting if it's an inflow or outflow, only where flow can either come enter of leave the domain.  (when running you can then have flow in and out of the domain through this face because you can have -ve inflows and outflows).

So your  bc.dat file should be

1  flow_xp     Inflow

4      3      :

! - - -

2  flow_xm     Outflow

2       2      :
