Hi Chris,

I hope you are doing well.

I have a quick question about salinity.

Salinity's unit is PSU but this is not clear.

In a simulation, is salinity treated like tracer concentration?

I mean the unit is g/L instead of g/kg (this depends on the density).

Now I am checking the salinity budget in a lake based on weight and would like to understand the exact way for salinity transport.

Regards,

Hiroshi

Hi Hiroshi,

The Ultimate-Quickest transport routine doesn't really know about the units of the variable being transported, it just treats each variable as a concentration ie as a mass/volume.

So it essentailly treaing PSU as a concentration.

Thank you for your answer.
Now clarified.
So I will check my problem in detail (the salt budget does not match the difference between the inflow and outflow).
